How Acupuncture Works
Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been practiced for over 5,000 years. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, health is determined by a balance in the circulation of blood and energy flow. This energy flow, referred to as Qi (pronounced Chee), is carried through the body along 12 major energy channels, called meridians. These meridians correspond to the major organs in the body. There are over 1,000 acupoints located within the meridian system. The placement of needles at specific points along the meridian system corrects and balances the flow of qi and blood to restore health and relieve pain, and is done according to the individuals specific health needs.
Benefits of Acupuncture
Acupuncture is used for all different types of health conditions. From migraines, allergies and the common cold, to arthritis, chronic fatigue, ADD and menopause, acupuncture provides many benefits. It is helpful in acute and chronic pain management, controlling appetite, weight loss, addiction recovery and enhancing the immune system.
Acupuncture Facelifts (Cosmetic acupuncture)
Acupuncture facelifts, also known as cosmetic acupuncture, is a safe, painless, non-surgical method, which reduces the signs of aging and rejuvenates the body. The Acupuncture Facelift is more that just a cosmetic procedure. It is a process that rejuvenates and revitalizes the whole body helping you to look and feel younger by increasing the circulation to the face.
The Acupuncture Facelift has many benefits and may erase as many as five to fifteen years from the face. A 1996 International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture report stated that among 300 cases treated with Acupuncture Facelifts, 90% had marked effects with one course of treatment. Acupuncture Facelifts are an excellent alternative to surgical procedures. Not only is it far less costly than cosmetic surgery, it is safe and virtually painless with no side effects. It can reduce deeper wrinkles and may entirely eliminate fine lines. It helps to reduce bags under the eyes, firm the jowls, eliminate puffiness and reduce double chins. Other effects include: increases collagen production, moisturizes the skin, improves facial color by promoting circulation, tightens the skin and pores, brightens the eyes, reduces the stress evident on the face, promotes overall health and well being and brings out your innate beauty and radiance.
A typical treatment regimen consists of 12 sessions administered either once or twice a week. Noticeable and lasting effects usually occur on or around the seventh treatment, however many people report significant changes after the first session. Dr. Tondora has received specialized training in Acupuncture Facelifts/Cosmetic Acupuncture.
Acupuncture and Pain Management
Acupuncture is very successful in the treatment of acute and chronic pain relief and prevention. It stimulates the release of the body’s natural pain-killing chemicals, endorphins and enkephalins. It balances the body’s energy so it can function optimally, which is helpful in pain prevention. Acupuncture may also influence the production and distribution of neurotransmitters and neuromodulators (chemicals in the brain), altering the perception of pain.
