Dr. Tondora was the title sponsor for the first Western Regional Bikini Champion in 2009, and for Miss Arizona USA 2009, along with many other top finishers. Dr. Tondora understands the unique needs of the competitive athlete, provides experienced consulting and medical services, and works with all competitors regardless of age, conditioning or experience. Dr. Tondora works closely with your trainer to give you that competitive edge and bring your physique to the elite level.
Bikini Competitors – Bikini competitors typically have a softer appearance than Figure/Fitness athletes, and generally require less intense dieting and conditioning regimens. Bikini preparation usually starts 8 – 10 weeks out from a show, depending on the competitors current conditioning. Competitors are scored on:
- Balance and Shape
- Overall physical appearance including complexion, skin tone, poise and overall presentation.
Figure Competitors- Figure competitors have more muscle mass than bikini competitors, and should show muscle consistency both front & back and top to bottom. There is definite muscle separation, but no striations, as seen with body builders. Because they carry a lower body ft percentage (average 10%), proper dieting and maintenance of metabolic function is crucial, before, during and after a show. Contest prep usually starts 16 weeks out, depending on the competitors current conditioning.
Women’s Physique Competitors – Physique competitors display a toned, athletic physique showcasing femininity, muscle tone, beauty/flow of physique. They display the aesthetics and look that is found in figure with a little more overall muscularity. Physique contest prep usually starts 20 – 16 weeks out, depending on the competitors current conditioning.
